After the Hilary MacMillan show in the 4m time slot, separates were banished and it was all about the frock! Vancouver-based brand Madame Moje, showing for the first time at World MasterCard Fashion Week, sent a collection of body hugging dresses in a rainbow of shades. Designed by Malashnee Naidoo and her business partner and husband, Hamed Emtiaz, the brand claims to be a Canadian brand with Parisian elegance. We were more inclined to think of American-based label Herve Leger, after seeing the bandage-style dresses with zipper cutouts, peaks of lace and ruffled peplums. With a palette of green, black, rust, purple and wine, Naidoo had all her shade bases covered, while also adding strategically placed ruching on the tush and an exposed gold zipper on the back of each piece, making the form fitting garments even sexier. With a certain customer in mind, Madame Moje does well by these ladies and with a flagship in South Granville and an online shop, the brand boosts that its made in Canada and ships to 48 countries worldwide. While this style may not be for every fashion watcher (this editor included), we do applaud the brand for making their wares available to a wide audience.
